Have you ever travelled on a high-speed train like the German ICE or the Prague metro, wondering how sometimes your smartphone has an internet connection and sometimes not? How the screens in the train show next stop?

Modern trains are full of information technology - IP based networks, modern protocols like video streaming, voice applications and many others. This software is built with modern engineering tools, object-oriented, and based on the Linux open source software stack.

We are Siemens Train IT team and we are developing a new IT platform for modern trains. Join us and help us create rail vehicles of tomorrow!

Your challenge:

You will be part of the European engineering team. In this senior role, you will be the key person for commissioning, supporting, and maintaining next-generation train applications such as passenger information, passenger counting, CCTV, and driver advisory system. You will take part in bringing these applications to Siemens trains worldwide. You are the interface between product owners, architects, development and test teams as well as the customer services organization. You are willing to travel up to 35%.

… in detail:

• Be a member of an agile, decentralized international engineering team
• Manage the Change Control Board
• Create and maintain IT system designs and electronic schematics
• Create and maintain specifications and documentation for IT systems used on trains
• Plan and commission test systems
• Coordinate and support test execution
• Contribute to the elaboration of training documents
• Provide technical support for internal and external customers
• Support commissioning and troubleshooting on trains (travel up to 35%)

Your qualification:

• 3+ years' experience in electronics or similar technical education
• In depth understanding of Linux and TCP/IP networking
• 2+ years' experience with system design
• Working knowledge of Git or Subversion and ticketing systems
• 1+ year experience with Scrum/Kanban
• English (intermediate or advanced) level B1 or above

This would set you apart from other candidates:

• Bachelor in electronics or computer science
• Decree 50 §6
• Experience in the railway industry
• German and any other language is a plus
